now read this

This beautiful poem was SMSed to me by my beloved friend Georgina. It is written by an African kid and was nominated for the best poem of 2005 (don’t know who was the organizer, she didn’t specify). Read it, am sure you will love it:

When I born, I black.
When I grow up, I black.
When I go and sun, I black.
When I scared, I black.
And when I die, I still black.

And you white fellows,
When you born, you pink.
When you grow up, you white.
When you go and sun, you red.
When you cold, you blue.
When you scared, you yellow.
When you sick, you green.
And when you die, you gray…

And you call me coloured??

good one..i was in nigeria for a year and they call white(yellow/brown etc) skinned people 'hoibo' which literally means 'a person whose skin is peeled off'. the concept is that god made us black but for some people the original skin has come off. maybe the 'emanciated and heritage proud' american arseholes who insisted on being called 'african americans' instead of 'blacks' should ponder on this.
